The process of settling the estate of a deceased relative is burdensome. It involves listing all known properties of the deceased person (i.e. real estates whether located in the Philippines and abroad, and personal properties such as cash on hand and in banks, vehicles, jewelries, shares of stocks in a corporation, among others), paying the outstanding obligations for the real estate tax/es, paying the estate tax before the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) within the prescrived period to avoid penalties and interest charge, as well as paying fees and bonds before the Register of Deeds for the transfer of properties. In the event there is no dispute among the heirs, we can assist our clients in drafting a Deed of Extrajudicial Settlement. Otherwise, an intervention from a court is recommended.

As such, in order to minimize this risk, it is advisable that the contract is reviewed for its legal aspect.
